Haxby and neighbouring Wigginton sit just north of the ring road, and between them they have a huge number of family homes — semis, detached houses and bungalows with front gardens that are often ripe for turning into proper off-road parking.
York Paving and Fencing designs and installs driveways, patios and boundaries for homeowners in Haxby and nearby Strensall and Huntington. Here’s what’s worth thinking about locally:
Haxby and Wigginton grew quickly from the 1960s onwards, so many homes still have their original concrete drives, slab paths and panel fences. Those surfaces are now well past their best: concrete cracks along the joints, slabs rock underfoot and fence posts rot at ground level. The most common jobs here are replacing a single-width concrete drive with a wider block paved or resin bound one, relaying a sunken back patio, and swapping tired panels for closeboard fencing on concrete posts.
If you are widening a drive on to the road, the extra width of dropped kerb has to be approved by City of York Council before any work happens on the pavement. We plan the driveway layout around the crossing you are allowed, so you are not left with a drive that is wider than the kerb in front of it. Read more on our dropped kerbs and driveway widening page.
We’ll come out to measure, check levels and drainage, and talk through materials. You’ll then get a clear written quote, with no pressure. If your project needs a dropped kerb or might be affected by planning or conservation area rules, we’ll tell you upfront.
